| Martyn Burke is a novelist and screenwriter who has directed many fictional and documentary films. He has traveled extensively from the Arctic Circle to the Amazon and has found himself in the middle of wars, revolutions and movies.
His screenwriting include the adaptation of Orwell's Animal Farm and the hit comedy Top Secret. He has written and directed such films as Pirates of Silicon Valley, nominated for five Emmys, and has directed such stars as Peter O'Toole, Anthony Quinn, Sylvester Stallone and Madeleine Stowe. His documentaries include films on organized crime (Connections), war (Witnesses), and politics in film (The Hollywood Ten -and others). During nearly 20 years as a senior analyst with the national security division of the Rand Corporation, Alexiev directed numerous research projects for the Department of Defense and other agencies. He is the author of several books and myriad monographs and articles on national security issues. His present research focuses on issues related to Islamic extremism and terrorism. |
